Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Friday said his grandson Arulnidhi, who is making his acting debut in a film titled 'Vamsam', should become as popular as Vijay and Suriya.
Speaking after he released the music album of the film at a function in Chennai, the chief minister said that he initially opposed the title 'Vamsam' as many would criticise it. "However, the film's producer MK Thamizharasu (Arulnidhi's father) and others convinced me by narrating the story."
Saying that Arulnidhi was very passionate about acting, Karunanidhi added in a lighter vein, "He never asked my permission to start his acting career. He just informed me that he would play the lead role in 'Vamsam'."
The Chief Minister, who said Vijay belongs to SA Chandrasekaran dynasty (vamsam) and Suriya belongs to Sivakumar dynasty, added they are so successful in the film industry only because of their 'vamsam'.
Heaping laurels on the film's director Pandiraj, he said, "I was very much impressed by his work in 'Pasanga' and enquired about him. This movie would take him to further heights. Also, he has the potential to emerge as a good speaker too.'
Earlier, Karunanidhi released the music CD (composed by Taj Noor) and the first copy was received by Suriya and Vijay. Lyricist Vaali and director-producer Sasikumar received the trailer copy from the Chief Minister.
Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister MK Stalin, Union Ministers MK Alagiri and Dhayanidhi Alagiri, Tamil Film Producers Council president Rama Narayanan, 'Vamsam' heroine Sunaina were also present at the event.
